Bernard André de Mersseman was born at Malo-les-Bains, on the North Sea coast. After two years’ study preparing to go the école des Hautes Etudes Commerciales, he decided he did not want to work in the family’s jewellery business in Dunkirk and chose instead to go the National Fine Arts Academy in Paris.
With his tondi and the transparency, Bernard plays with plexiglass, seeking to create an energies gathering place where colors, lines and materials are in fusion. He wants that everything to be as a movement of a slow dance, that sometime suddenly changes rhythm, not by a sudden gesture, but through an unseen change in the tempo of the infinite.
